Term2, week 1- Targets Review!!!

Dear children,

As we continue to strive in Term 2, I would like you to reflect on your strengths and weaknesses and work on them. While some of u may be pleased with your results, others might be somewhat upset over your dismal performance.

I had a test during the 1 week break. I was disappointed with my performance because I believed and knew that I could do better if I was more focused during the test. I spent almost 30 minutes on one particular question. After 20 minutes trying to solve the question, I realised that I did not read the question thoroughly and I missed out an information given in the question. That's the reason why I couldn't solve it! I started to panic as time was running out. I quickly calm myself down and whispered " I CAN DO IT! ". In the end, I managed to complete 3/4 of the question. Although I could have done better, I was defeated by being over-confidence and carelessness.

What about you? Take this opportunity to reflect and comment on your Class Test 1 results.

1) Are your results close to / far from / meeting your targets? How do u feel now?
2) If u have done well, what factors contributed to the success?
3) How can u maintain or even further improve your performance?
4) If u did not achieve your desired results, what do u think could be the cause(s)? i.e. Test papers too difficult, not spending enough time to revise etc.
5) What are your strategies to overcome these problems?

MATHS IS FUN!

Solve this...

Mary looked out of her farmhouse window and saw a group of pigeons and donkeys passing by. She counted all the legs of the pigeons and donkeys and found that the total number of legs add up to 66. How many of each kind of animals (pigeons and donkeys) passed by her window if the total number of animals is 24?

Respond in my comments column. The first to give the correct answer gets a "student Start".

Welcome the year of Ox...!

Dear all,

First & Foremost …..

HAPPY 牛 YEAR 2009 !!!!

We had a memorable Chinese New Year celebration in school on Friday. I was fascinated by the impressive magic acts performed by Jimmy. He's simply amazing, wasn't he? We must really thank and applaud the Chinese Department for planning such a great show for us.

Chinese New Year has always been one of my most anticipated celebrations. It is a time for reaffirming family and kinship ties. My hubby and I started the spring cleaning of my home even weeks before the festival, hoping that the house is spick and span for the New Year. I also went around looking for cute looking and meaningful spring couplets to decorate my home in hope of obtaining good fortune in the coming year. And definitely not forgetting the new year goodies, such as pinapple tarts and love letters. Finally, just when we had prepared everything ready to welcome the year of the Ox, Mdm Phua had fallen sick. However, I felt much better on the New Year Eve. My hubby and I had reunion dinner in my in-law's house.
Afterwhich, we went to the temple to pray for prosperity, good fortune and blessings from the God.

On the first 2 days of Chinese New Year, my hubby and I were rather occupied and busy with the visiting. In accordance with the Chinese tradition of paying due respect to age and seniority, it is the practice for us to present New Year gifts to our parents and their elders. In addition, as a married couple, we have to give red packets to the children and those who are not married. Though we do not have time to rest well, we have a memorable new year.

Hereby, I would like to wich everyone of you all the best for the Year 2009, with great love, success, blessings, happiness, wealth, friendship and good health.

May the New Year 2009 be as bright and shining as the fireworks !

Best wishes,

3. Do you believe in the school values? If 'yes' or 'no', why?

5. How can you, as students, live up to the school values?
6. What activities do you think the teachers can organise in class and in school to help students learn the values?
